Partner Library VDIC-WIV/ISP
The information task of the library of the Scientific Institute of Public Health (IPH) mainly consists in giving access to the relevant documentation that is published in international journals and that relates to its research activities (epidemiology, toxicology, clinical biology, bacteriology, mycology, virology, biotechnology, foodstuffs, pharmacy, consumables and radioactivity).
The system is based on subscriptions and e-licences. Any lacking documents can be obtained, if necessary, by means of an interlibrary loan application.
The documentation is usually accessible through the portal site (since 1999) and through catalogues of journals and monographs.
In addition, the Institute still has its traditional library, where it keeps journals and monographs as well as its own publications.
The journals, which are kept on open shelves, can be consulted during the opening hours.
The monographs, which are classified in sublibraries, can be consulted in the library by appointment only.
The IPH publications, which are collected in the library, can be consulted in the library or through the Internet when an e-format is available.
In order to avoid unnecessary travelling, please contact the Institute in advance by phone (00 32 2 642 50 93 – 52 37) or by e-mail at biblio@wiv-isp.be.
Copies can be made at a charge of 12 eurocents per double-sided copy (A4 format).
Books are only lent to interlibrary centres of universities.
